I received a new laptop for work which I have admin rights to. -HP Probook 650 G1 -Windows 7 Pro x64 When plugging the printer into the USB port, a status windows pops up and indicates that it is searching Windows update for the correct driver. It always fails on 1 of 5 drivers. The actual HP PSC 1200 series driver cannot be found. I then went to catalog.update.microsoft.com, searched and downloaded the HP PSC 1200 series driver. I extracted the.cab file and tried updating the driver through device manager. The response is that the driver cannot be found. Hp Smart Update Manager Isosorbide on this page.
I've uninstalled the device many times, rebooted, tried windows update again and again with no luck. I've tried x86 drivers and x64 drivers. My previous laptop - HP Elitebook worked fine with this printer using W7.
Not sure what is preventing it to successfully install this time around, but I am out of ideas. I've searched this problem in google and parsed through multiple forums/sites but no luck. Are there any driver folders or registry entries I can delete that may be corrupt? I should note that the scanner driver works fine, but I get the yellow exclamation point on the printer icon under 'devices and printers'. Thanks in advance. Hi, If the laptop came from work possibly the IT Dept. Has restrictions in place so be sure to check with them. Double check your cable and connections. As OEM HP is responsible for the proper operation of the printer and their supplied drivers. Check with HP Support, their on-line documentation and drivers, and ask in their forums.
