Hp Xp Pro With Sp1a Restore Cd
I have Office on a separate Disk and I have the product key so no problems therebut the XP Pro I installed moved the HP recovery partition from Drive D to now a Drive I. I dont think I did that! I can see that there is 6.96 gigs used on that drive with.93 gigs available so I’m pretty sure thats the recovery.
I’ve tried both and amended 1)these above files and WINNT.ini/sff files &, used 2)both the Product ID supplied on this HP SFF d530, XP Pro box & the Msoft suppied PID Keys, using, 3) nLite compiled iso’s but none of the many work after integration? I am unable to 4) save the current bios which is still showing at 786B2 v1.11 despite many attempts and 5)formatted the hard disk (full zero wipe) & made this, 6) a 0x12 (Compaq) disk/drive but nothing works, it’s as if the OS/Bios are locked & both need to be released? Like many others, I keep getting the product keys are not correct. Please assist?
Hi, Daniel, Interesting post this one – like so many others I’m trying to resurrect my 2004 HP laptop, and lost that most precious of CDs. I can’t believe it – I still have the cover, and the drivers disk and everything else that shipped with the machine, but lost the important one (sigh). Of course getting the OEMs is proving very difficult, so I’ll give this method a bash and hopefully get sorted.

(now just got to find an old XP Pro cd around my friends) Thanks for the tips – amazing you’re still getting hits on this page after 6 years!
My old XP Pro sp3 system failed. The hard disk survived. Bought a new 8.1 compatible system and upgraded to 8.1 Pro. I installed Client Hyper-V. I would like to know if I can restore a recent backup file from my older XP Pro sp3 system onto the new 8.1 pro Hyper-V system.
The old XP Pro sp3 system contained critical/expensive S/W that I need to use. One of the S/W packages uses a USB HASP copy protection device that appears to work properly on the new 8.1 Pro system. Also, can I simply install the surviving XP Pro sp3 SATA hard drive (that is compatible with the new 8.1 Pro Client Hyper-V system) and use it via Hyper-V, rather than using Windows XP Pro sp3 Restore? What did you use to backup the Windows XP drive? Hyper-V only supports the.VHD format and if it was not backed up in such a supported format, you won't be able to restore.
As for resuscitating the installation itself on the drive in VHD, that would not be possible. If you could get the drive to boot on a working supported computer, you could try use P2V to turn the installation in to a VM you use in Hyper V. Best, Andre Windows Insider MVP MVP-Windows and Devices for IT twitter/adacosta groovypost.com. Andre Thank you for your informative response. I had thought that I would be home free with Client Hyper-V. Epson Warranty Check By Serial Number Usa. The.VHD format requirement is yet another pothole in my forced migration path. The backup was done using the Windows XP Pro sp3 built-in Backup function. Install Freenas Hp Mediasmart Server Ex495.
All partitions were in NTFS. I will consider the VM-p2v approach that you have suggested. As a last resort, I may use another old Windows XP Pro sp3 compatible computer that would be dedicated to the sole purpose of running my critical/expensive software packages. Andrew E & Andre Thank you for your suggestions. I am now on a dual path toward recovery. I have obtained and older Dell 8200 32 bit XP compatible computer, installed XP on it, and I am in the process of reinstalling some of my XP compatible software. I have managed to install XP sp3 in my 8.1 Pro Hyper-V system.
Now that XP sp3 is installed in Hyper-V, it does not appear to be user friendly. The installation process was difficult. Microsoft does not provide good step-by-step guidance. One unexpected and surprising obstacle was the requirement to install Service Pack sp1. Why do I need sp1 when I have installed XP sp3? Well, it turns out that sp1 is an earlier version of sp1a that includes Java related stuff that was not included in sp1a.
